Welcome to the Newto News for March of 2025. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Aurora, Colorado was founded in the late 19th century as a small town on the outskirts of Denver. Originally named Fletcher, after the town’s founder Donald Fletcher, it was later renamed Aurora in 1907, after the Roman goddess of dawn. The town saw a boom in population during World War II as military personnel and their families settled in the area. In the post-war era, Aurora continued to grow rapidly, with new neighborhoods, schools, and businesses sprouting up throughout the city. In the 1970s and 80s, Aurora faced economic challenges as industries moved out of the area, but the city rebounded in the 1990s with the development of the Southlands Mall and the founding of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Today, Aurora is a diverse and vibrant city known for its cultural attractions, outdoor recreational opportunities, and thriving business community. Its population continues to grow as more people discover the unique charm and opportunities that Aurora has to offer.
