Welcome to the Newto News for January of 2026. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Aurora, Colorado was founded in the late 19th century as a small town located on the outskirts of Denver. Originally named Fletcher, the town quickly grew in size and population with the establishment of the Denver-Kansas City Railroad, bringing new opportunities for trade and commerce. In 1907, the town was officially incorporated as the City of Aurora. Throughout the 20th century, Aurora continued to expand, attracting residents and businesses from across the country. The city became known for its diverse population, vibrant arts scene, and strong economy. In the 1980s and 1990s, Aurora experienced rapid growth as a major suburb of Denver, with new developments, shopping centers, and amenities being built. Today, Aurora is the third-largest city in Colorado and continues to thrive as a hub for business, culture, and recreation. With its close proximity to Denver and the Rocky Mountains, Aurora remains a popular destination for both residents and visitors alike.
