Welcome to the Newto News for January of 2025. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Aurora, Colorado, located just east of Denver, was originally settled by the Arapaho and Cheyenne tribes. In the late 19th century, the town experienced rapid growth with the arrival of the railroad. Aurora officially became a city in 1929. During World War II, Aurora played a significant role as home to the Fitzsimons Army Hospital, which provided medical care for wounded soldiers. After the war, many veterans chose to settle in Aurora, contributing to the city’s population boom. In the late 20th century, Aurora continued to expand, attracting new residents with its affordable housing and proximity to Denver. Today, Aurora is a diverse and vibrant city known for its thriving arts scene, outdoor recreation opportunities, and strong sense of community. Despite its growth, Aurora has worked to preserve its historic roots, with several buildings and landmarks from its early days still standing as a reminder of the city’s rich history.
