Welcome to the Newto News for April of 2025. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Aurora, Colorado was founded in the 1880s as a small frontier town originally named Fletcher. It quickly grew as a hub for agricultural trade and transportation along the railroad lines. In the early 20th century, the city saw a boom in population and development with the discovery of oil and gas reserves in the region. During World War II, Aurora became a key military base with the establishment of the Fitzsimons Army Hospital, which later became the Fitzsimons Army Medical Center and is now part of the Anschutz Medical Campus. The city continued to expand rapidly in the post-war years, attracting a diverse population and becoming a center for aerospace and technology industries. Today, Aurora is a bustling and diverse city with a rich history and a vibrant cultural scene. It is home to a thriving arts community, world-class medical facilities, and a strong economy driven by a variety of industries.
