Welcome to the Newto News for March of 2026. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Anaheim, California was founded by fifty German families in 1857. Originally known as Annaheim, after the nearby Santa Ana River and the German word for home, the city quickly grew into a thriving agricultural community. By the late 1800s, Anaheim was known for its vineyards and was a major producer of wine. In the early 20th century, Anaheim began to shift towards a more industrial economy, with the opening of the nearby Disneyland theme park in 1955 marking a major turning point. The influx of tourists and development around the park helped transform Anaheim into a major tourist destination. Today, Anaheim is a vibrant multicultural city known for its diverse population, booming economy, and world-class attractions such as Disneyland Resort, Angel Stadium, and the Anaheim Convention Center. The city continues to grow and evolve, while still retaining its rich agricultural roots and proud German heritage.
