Welcome to the Newto News for June of 2025. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Anaheim, California was founded in 1857 by fifty German families who purchased a 1,165-acre parcel of land to establish a colony. The city’s name is believed to have originated from a combination of the nearby Santa Ana River and the German word “heim”, meaning home. In the late 19th century, Anaheim became known for its agricultural production, particularly its thriving wine industry. The city’s first winery was established in 1857 and by the 1880s, Anaheim was one of the largest wine-producing regions in California. In the early 20th century, Anaheim experienced a surge in population and development with the opening of Disneyland in 1955. The iconic theme park brought an influx of tourism and economic growth to the city. Today, Anaheim is a vibrant and diverse city with a population of over 350,000 residents. It is home to major sports teams, cultural attractions, and a booming entertainment industry.
