Welcome to the Newto News for July of 2025. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Anaheim, California was originally inhabited by the Tongva people before Spanish explorers arrived in the late 18th century. The area was then established as a Spanish land grant known as Rancho San Juan Cajon de Santa Ana. In the mid-19th century, German settlers began to arrive and establish vineyards and wineries in the area. In 1857, the name Anaheim was chosen for the community, which means “home by the river.” The city experienced rapid growth in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, becoming a center for agriculture and citrus production. In 1955, Anaheim gained worldwide recognition with the opening of Disneyland, the iconic theme park created by Walt Disney. The park attracted millions of visitors and spurred further development in the area. Today, Anaheim is a bustling city known for its theme parks, sports teams, and convention center. Its diverse population and thriving economy make it a vibrant and dynamic community.
