Welcome to the Newto News for January of 2026. My name is Zack Cockfield, and my team and I created Newtomedia as a way for visitors or new residents to get information about a city. Each month we bring together resources that will update you on the history, amenities, culture, future opportunities and all other things inside a city that make it unique. We also hope to be a resource for connecting you with people and businesses that can help you live a better life. If you find our efforts useful, please click on the links to get more information!

Anaheim, California was originally inhabited by the Tongva Native American tribe before Spanish explorers arrived in the 18th century. The area was then colonized and became a thriving agricultural community known for its vineyards and citrus groves. In 1857, German immigrants established a colony in the area and named it Anaheim, which translates to “home by the river.” The city experienced rapid growth with the arrival of the Santa Fe Railroad in the late 19th century, making it a hub for transportation and commerce. In the early 20th century, Anaheim became famous for its orange industry and was dubbed the “Orange County.” The construction of Disneyland in 1955 further solidified the city’s status as a major tourist destination and entertainment hub. Today, Anaheim is known for its theme parks, sports teams, and diverse cultural attractions, attracting millions of visitors each year.
